Finding the Best Temporary Health Insurance
from:
Health insurance policies are there to keep you financially ready in case you get ill and get hospitalized. To make it simple, health insurance is a kind of financial security plan to avoid losing all your money on hospitalization bills, medicine bills and other factors concerning your health expenses.
You probably have a health insurance policy in the company you are working for. This is called a group health insurance plan. A group health insurance plan is a kind of health plan offered by your company. This is relatively very cheap because your company will be paying for most of the monthly premiums. Also, it usually has good health coverage.
However, what if you quit your job? What if you got laid off and you’re still looking for one to replace your old job? What happens to your group health insurance? Since you are no longer an employee of the company that gave you the group health insurance plan, you no longer have it unless you pay for the monthly premiums yourself. However, it can be expensive and may only be available in a limited time only.
To get cheaper health insurance while you’re in-between jobs, temporary health insurance is there to help you. Not only is this health insurance plan popular for people who are in-between jobs, but it is also popular for people attending school, people who recently graduated, for part-time employees, and for people who are waiting for a permanent health insurance to be approved by the company.
Temporary can offer you good health security at a very affordable price. However, you should always remember that temporary health insurance plans should not be considered as a replacement for permanent health security plans.
There are different temporary health insurance available. Depending on the company, the temporary health benefits can only last as short as 30 days or as long as 360 days. The coverage will also vary from insurance company to insurance company. So, this is why it is always important to shop around for temporary health insurance quotes.
When getting a temporary health insurance plan, you need to consider a few things before rushing to buy this kind of health security. One thing you should consider is determine how long you will need the plan. You don’t want to pay for the monthly premiums in case you already have that permanent health insurance. Also, you should not consider temporary health plans as an alternative for long-term health plans. Temporary health plans can cover adequate protection at a low price. However, this kind of insurance is exempt from Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that means that this kind of health plans has no guarantees.
Another great thing about temporary health insurance plans is that application and getting it is very simple. Also, temporary health insurance plans can cover unforeseen accidents and other emergencies that will require hospitalization or medical treatments. However, you should always remember that this is not recommended for comprehensive health security.
If you don’t have permanent health security yet or is still waiting for it to be approved, temporary health insurance is the right choice for you. If you have received your permanent health plan, you can always call the insurance company and tell them that you will cancel the short-term health insurance plan and is switching on a permanent health insurance plan.
