Low Cost Health Insurance for Self Employed: Getting it Cheap

from:

It is a fact that most people today are becoming unhealthier. This may be because of the lifestyle that people are living. This may be one of the flaws of technology because most people work sitting down in front of their computers and rarely have exercise to keep them fit. Maybe your one of those people who lives a somewhat unhealthy life.

It is also a fact that medical treatment fees, hospitalization fees, and others are becoming more and more expensive everyday and can really put a dent in your pocket. This is why most people today are buying health insurance. Companies are even required to give health insurance policies to their employees.

However, what if you want to start your own business or leave your previous job to be your own boss? It is very important for you to have a capital for your business and also at the same time have affordable health insurance. As you may know, affordable health insurance is sometimes very tricky to get.

When you want cheap health insurance, insurance companies can give it to you but with limited coverage. You probably don’t want your insurance to only have limited coverage. So, you resort to buying a more expensive health insurance policy but with more health coverage for you and your dependents.

You also know that starting your own business or becoming self-employed means freedom but sometimes it may also mean unlimited income or limited income. You don’t know if your business will succeed or not.

Being self-employed means freedom from following someone else’s company. You will be your own boss and you can do whatever you want with your business.

The problem in being self-employed is that you will find a hard time getting an affordable health insurance policy. If you were an employee of some company before, you probably noticed that they pay part of your health insurance monthly premiums and they just deduct some of your payment from your salary.

However, being self-employed also means that you have to pay for your own health insurance unlike before, you only pay a part of it. Fortunately, low cost health insurance can still be found. Hard as it may be to believe, you can still have an affordable health insurance with good health coverage for you and your dependents.

To find low cost health insurance, you need to look hard enough and wide enough for you to be able to get it. It may sound difficult but it’s as simple as going online and shopping for quotes. What this means is that instead of visiting every insurance company to ask for quotes, you can easily find quotes by just logging on in the Internet and visiting a number of insurance companies websites.

These quotes are a great way to start your low cost health insurance shopping. All you have to do is obtain a number of health insurance quotes online and compare it. Determine which health insurance policy has a low cost with good coverage. After you found the health insurance you need, you can call the company and inquire about the health insurance policy you want.

Or, if you still haven’t found the right insurance policy for you, you can always take advantage of COBRA or the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. What this law does is it allows you to continue your health insurance benefits that you obtained from your former employer provided that you will pay for the entire monthly premium at a certain period of time after you have left your previous job.

Searching for low cost health insurance plan just means digging deep for quotes from different insurance companies.
