Every American child is entitled to a bright future. He should be provided with an access to basic and higher education. His welfare should also be one of the top priorities of his parents. His needs must also be provided for it will ensure of his development not only physically but mentally and socially as well.
Among his basic needs is health insurance coverage. At his young age, a child is always prone to different sickness. This is the stage wherein his body’s immune system starts to develop. Therefore, as his parent, it is your responsibility to ensure that his health needs will be attended immediately and promptly.
If you are presently working either on a state or federal government and its attached agencies or on a private company, you are fortunate enough for you are enrolled by your employer in a group health insurance plan. The health coverage is automatically extended to your child as your dependent, thus you are confident that your child is covered with your health insurance plan.
However, there are instances wherein due to the high cost of health insurance plan, your employer may cut back the coverage he extended for your child as part of the plan. If that will happen, your child will not be eligible anymore to any health benefits specified in your group health insurance plan. Therefore, you need to purchase a separate health care plan for your child from a private health insurance carrier.
You will now experience problems in terms of cost of health insurance plans provided by private carriers. First is the high cost of premiums that you need to pay monthly. Instead of having peace of mind, you are troubled because what you earn is only enough to support your family’s other important expenditures. Second is the health coverage. You pay for the monthly premiums only to find out that the health coverage that you need are not specified in the plan you have availed.
Fortunately, the different states across the country realized the need for an immediate solution to the growing problem of uninsured children in the United States. That is why they passed common legislation endorsing the creation of the Children’s Health Insurance Program or CHIP. In the Lone Star State of Texas, CHIP will be an effective solution to provide Texas children an access to different health benefits.
Texas CHIP is designed for Texas families who have employed members yet their group health insurance program does not cover their own children. This state program is intended for those families who cannot afford to have a private health insurance coverage for their children.
