You might be thinking that you are getting a health insurance that would muddle through your health care cost. But be wary that you might be falling into a decoy. .
The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud has charged a Miami-Dade country resident, Enrique Anulo, 41, of defrauding a number of Floridians into a discount health plan. .
The process of the scam starts when a consumer comes to American Health Benefits to purchase an economical health discount plan. Anulo would request voided or blank checks from the buyer as part of the registration process. He will then create check drafts to withdraw the monthly membership fees from the victims’ accounts for him to accumulate more charges on the customer. .
The end of this kind of scenario as one victim stated, the “for lease” sign in the window tells most of the story. The empty office behind it tells the rest. .
The company will evaporate in just a moment. The telephone lines will be disconnected. The e-mail address will be non-existing. And even the website will go offline. .
The sad part of the story, the state insurance division has no power to help the left victims. .
The very key to this—don’t be fooled are the mounting prices of health insurance that compels people to turn unto discount health plans. Nothing is wrong with this, the wrong turn comes in when you are deceived by the luring word “cheap” by advantageous people. .
Be skeptical when things appear as too good to be true. They might really are. .
It is understandable that the world would seek for an affordable health insurance plan. So, to avoid the decoy of low-cost health care benefits, you might then need to educate yourself about the scams. Browse through the internet. Through this, you will end up with a better choice. .
The first thing to consider here anyhow is to know that the medical discount plans are not the insurance. The purchaser of medical discount plans (provided the plans are legal) will definitely receive discounts for certain health care services, but they are still responsible for their medical bills. .
Of course there are legitimate discount plans, yet they are also an ubiquity of illegitimate plans taking advantage of the needs of the consumers to find health care costs that would fit into their budget. .

The fraud is conspicuous when the discount benefit networks used insurance terms such as health coverage, guaranteed benefits, and others. The lure comes in when there is already an exaggeration of the security benefits and promising discounts which actually do not exist. .
More so, discount plans are not government regulated. Hence, there are no- built-in consumer protections. This leaves the clients with little or no recourse after all. .
People are looking for affordable health plan for their family’s sake. Sadly, people like Angulo are taking the chances to defraud people for them to earn large amount of money. .
On your part, would you still wait for the moment where you will just discover that the health care plan you were paying for will be gone and dissolve into nothingness. Or worse, if this truth will suck you in the right time, you will need more than just medical attention for your family member. .
